Compressed air is often called the “fourth utility” of modern factories. As automotive and electronics plants accelerate intelligent and low-carbon upgrades, they now demand far higher stability and energy efficiency from their air systems.
According to public reports, screw booster compressors independently developed by Shanghai Xinran Compressor Co., Ltd. have been applied in the Phase II automotive plant of Xiaomi’s intelligent manufacturing base. The plant integrates automated workshops for stamping, mega-casting, body assembly, and final assembly. Its mega-casting workshop uses ultra-large die-casting equipment and places extremely high demands on air pressure stability and energy performance.
The related models use screw boosting technology to raise compressed air from about 6 bar to a stable 10 bar, helping solve a common mismatch between available pressure and process demand. The units also feature variable-frequency control and multi-sensor monitoring. Reports say energy use can be more than 30% lower than conventional equipment. Custom intake valves and flow-control programs are designed to improve safety under high-pressure duty.
On site, the air system mainly supports three needs: stable air for large die-casting machines, coordinated operation of automated lines and robots, and lower noise and oil-contamination risk to match green manufacturing standards. Project teams note that energy-saving performance and intelligent management align with the plant’s focus on lifecycle operating cost.
The takeaway for the screw compressor industry is clear: competitiveness is no longer only about flow rate. High-pressure boosting, VFD energy savings, IoT monitoring, and field service now decide who can serve high-end manufacturing.
